The Downtown Christmas Pilgrimage is a beautiful and special way to prepare for and celebrate Christmas. Basically there is music and singing at five churches in downtown Baton Rouge. We begin at one church then walk to the next one and the next one and so on – five churches in all. (We will probably not go to all five churches – that can take a long time and people might become too tired.)
You can drive yourself and meet us at the first church at 5:30 p.m. (nice and early in order to get good seats) or ride on the church bus which will pick up from the usual places starting at Edward Gay at 5:00 p.m. Please allow up to 5-7 minutes for the bus to arrive because of weather or traffic. Bring good walking shoes and good clothes for the weather.
We normally park at First Presbyterian Church and then walk to Mt Zion First Baptist.
Children are welcome (as long as they participate and can walk with everyone else). We strongly recommend you have something to eat/drink before you come! (We may not be finished until around 8:00 p.m.)
This is perhaps Pastor Rick’s favorite activity during the Advent/Christmas season. We hope you can join us.
This Sunday December 11 starting at 10:30 a.m. Church of the Nations will be with University Baptist Church for worship in the “big sanctuary”. This will be a special worship service with Christmas music by the choir with small orchestra. Please come and join us for the beautiful music!
