We will have Family Fun Day this Sunday March 25 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on the “front property” of University Baptist Church. There will be traditional Easter egg hunt for children, games, “bouncy” rides, a baking contest, and a fundraiser dinner (for the youth ministry). Church of the Nations is always invited. This activity is especially for families with young children.
From the University Baptist Church newsletter:
The Preschool and Children’s Ministry team invites everyone to come and enjoy this annual event. Ladies, dust off your bonnets, and men and women fire up your ovens. We will have the annual Bonnet Parade, as well as a first annual bake-off. We will have an Easter Egg Hunt for toddlers-kindergarteners and one for 1st-5th graders. There will also be bounce houses, games, and other activities for all the kids.
The Preschool and Children’s Ministry Teams are asking for donations of plastic Easter eggs for Family Fun Day. Please fill the eggs with non-melting candy, small prizes or stickers. We are asking that all children participating donate a dozen plastic eggs for the egg hunt. There will be a donation box in the Preschool Area of the Church and in the fellowship hall. Thank you for your contribution.
There will also be a Youth Hot Dog Fundraiser. Donations will be accepted for our Youth Summer Camp and Mission Trips.
We are going to do something special for children and young people (= elementary and middle school) in our church family this Sunday March 18 from 2:00-3:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall at University Baptist Church (where we have our fellowship lunches and our Dumpling Party).
We will play games (like Uno, Connect Four, cards), then decorate our new children’s bags, then make and eat ice cream sundaes. If the weather is good maybe we can try flying kites!
Please tell Rick Wright – reply to this email or call – if you would like your child(ren) participate in this afternoon of fun and ice cream. He needs to make sure he has enough for everyone!
This Sunday will be a fun and special day!
First – different schedule
- Bible study at 9:15 a.m.
- Worship at 10:45 a.m. in the “big sanctuary”
The church bus will pick up people starting at Edward Gay apartments at 8:45 a.m.
Church of the Nations will lead worship for University Baptist Church. We encourage as many internationals as possible to come on this special day.
Second – special activities
There will be a Ministry Fair in the courtyard staring at 10:00 a.m. There will be an information table for all the different activities in the church including Church of the Nations and children and youth activities.
After worship there will be a free lunch for the entire church family. If you can please bring a dish to share. If you cannot – please come anyway!
Third – Family Fun Day
Starting about 1:00 p.m. we will have Family Fun Day. There will be music games and special activities for everyone especially children. This will include the traditional Easter Egg Hunt for younger and older children.
Please remember that we have a different schedule for our Sunday morning activities this Sunday, March 14. Basically everything will be one hour earlier:
- Bible study at 9:20 a.m.
- Worship gathering at 10:30 a.m.
- Church bus picks up starting at Edward Gay at 9:00 a.m.
The reason is because this Sunday we encourage you to join us for Family Fun Day! After worship both Church of the Nations and University Baptist Church will have a picnic lunch. Games and small prizes for children. And a few games for older children and adults as well. Easter egg hunts. And music and entertainment while we eat.
(Church of the Nations normally helps prepare the lunches. So we will have a short worship time and then some of us will go to the kitchen and put food into boxes for the people.)
Sunday, October 25 will be a special day.
First the schedule will be different:
- 9:15 a.m. for Bible study
- 10:30 a.m. for worship
The church bus will pick up from:
- Highland Plantation/Duplantier at 8:45 a.m.
- Edward Gay at 8:55 a.m.
- Nicholson bus stop at 9:00 a.m.
- Tigerland at 9:05 a.m.
Second Church of the Nations will be with University Baptist Church in the “big sanctuary” and not in the chapel. We will lead worship and internationals will read and speak. The Choir of the Nations will also sing.
Please also know there will be special activities for children that evening starting at 5:00 p.m. in the church courtyard (middle area). Games and candy. Children can wear a costume (please no scary costumes) if they would like.
See you then!
University Baptist Church will offer Vacation Bible School the week of Monday-Friday June 22-26 from 8:45 a.m. to 12:00 noon each day. This is for children ages 5 through 5th grade. But children in 6th grade or older are very welcome to come and help as volunteers.
The theme is “Boomerang Express” and many of the games and activities will have to do with Australia – as well as learning about the Bible and about Jesus Christ.

If children of international families would like to come please register them online at the University Baptist Church website! Although you can register your children on Monday June 22 it is much better to register them early. Please visit the University Baptist Church website for more information.
Pastor Rick is willing to pick up children who live on or near the Louisiana State University campus – but they must be at least 7 years old and they must come with a card that has their name and contact information. Of course you can always bring your children to the church yourself if you would like.
