Some of you know that Rick Wright – pastor of Church of the Nations – is teaching a class at Louisiana State University this year as an adjunct instructor. His class is Monday through Thursday mornings in Coates Hall near the Student Union. That means he is on campus four days a week! He would love to get together with internationals for lunch. Does not have to be at a restaurant – we can bring our own lunches and meet somewhere. And he can come to where you are. Classroom, office, lab – wherever.
If you would like to him to come meet you for lunch send him an email at Rwright@Ubc-br.org or call him on his cell phone (number below). He can meet people for lunch any day except Monday.
No English Conversation this Friday September 02. We do not have English Conversation on the Friday before the first Sunday of the month.

Church of the Nations will host a field trip to the Louisiana State Museum and the State Capitol this Saturday, August 27. People who live on or near the LSU campus can catch a ride starting at Edward Gay apartments at 9:30 a.m. The bus will also stop at Tiger Towers then Nicholson bus stop then Tigerland. Those who want to drive themselves can meet us at the church parking lot – we will leave the church parking lot by 10:00 a.m.
We first will visit the Louisiana State Museum which has many interesting exhibits about the state of Louisiana – its history, culture, and traditions. We will have a short picnic lunch (sandwiches, chips, drinks) then visit the State Capitol. Children may come but parents must watch them at all times.

*This trip is mainly for “new” internationals (those who have recently arrived in Baton Rouge) and/or internationals who have not yet visited these places*. But people who are interested in coming must reserve a place by Friday morning. (The church bus can only carry so many people and we need to know how much food to bring.) To reserve a place on the trip please contact Rick Wright at rwright AT ubc-br DOT org or call his office at 766-9474 ext 222.
We should have everyone back home around 2:30-3:00 p.m.
You can learn more about the Louisiana State Museum at this website and more about the State Capitol at this website.

in Movie.
Church of the Nations will offer movie night this Friday, August 05 starting at 7:00 p.m. We will turn the chapel into a giant movie theater! Free drinks, snacks, and popcorn. Children are especially welcome.
We were going to show “Rango” but Pastor Rick watched it yesterday and does not think it will work for Church of the Nations. It’s a good movie but the English is very difficult and children might have trouble understanding the story.

So instead we will show “Despicable Me” which is about a man who wants to be a famous criminal but turns into a very kind and generous man and a hero. Often funny and sometimes very moving. You will see.
You can drive yourself to the church building or the church bus can pick you up starting at Edward Gay at 6:40 p.m. – 30 minutes earlier than our normal Friday schedule. Please allow 5-7 minutes for the bus to arrive because of weather or traffic.
