*Different schedule* for morning activities on Sunday July 10

We will have a different Sunday morning schedule on Sunday July 10.

  • Bible study at 9:15 a.m.
  • Worship at 10:30 a.m.

The bus will pick people up at earlier times:

  • Edward Gay apartments at 8:50 a.m.
  • Alaska Street at 8:52 a.m.
  • Tiger Towers apartments at 8:53 a.m.
  • Nicholson bus stop at 8:55 a.m.
  • Tigerland at 8:58 a.m.
  • Brightside bus stop at 9:00 a.m.

Church of the Nations will join with University Baptist Church in the “big sanctuary” for a special and important worship gathering. This will be the first Sunday for the new co-pastors of University Baptist Church. We want to be there to show our support and to enjoy the special occasion.

We go back to our normal Sunday schedule again on Sunday July 17!

What do you do during a hurricane? English Conversation – Friday July 08

We don’t want to worry people but summer is hurricane season in Louisiana. We hope that there will not be any. But everyone needs to know what to do if a hurricane comes.

You can drive there yourself or you can ride on the church bus which picks up from:

  • Edward Gay apartments (outside gate) at 7:10 p.m.
  • Alaska Street at 7:12 p.m.
  • Tiger Towers (outside front gate) at 7:13 p.m.
  • Nicholson apartments (covered bus stop) at 7:15 p.m.
  • Tigerland (please let Rick know exactly where to stop) at 7:20 p.m.
  • Brightside (bus stop near Circle K gas station) at 7:22 p.m.

Please allow 5-10 minutes for the bus to arrive because of weather or traffic.

Directions (very close to campus this week):

  1. Drive southeast from Louisiana State University along Highland
  2. Turn left onto Duplantier
  3. At the end of Duplantier make a u-turn and go back down Duplantier in the opposite direction
  4. House 259 is the 2nd(?) house on the right

Free lunch and regular activities this Sunday

Please join us for free lunch this Sunday July 03 starting at 12:30 p.m. after our morning worship! We also have our regular Sunday morning activities including Bible study (in simple English) and worship (in simple English).

  • Bible study at 10:15 a.m.
  • Worship at 11:15 a.m.
  • Free fellowship lunch after worship

The church bus can pick you up at:

  • Highland Plantation bus stop near neighborhood WalMart at 9:50 a.m.
  • Edward Gay at 10:00 a.m.

  • Brightside bus stop (across from store and gas station) at 10:15 a.m.

Vacation Bible School next week – Mon June 20 to Fri June 24

Next week University Baptist Church will offer Vacation Bible School for children age 4 through 5th grade. Middle school and high school children can still participate as helpers.

Monday June 20 to Friday June 24 from 6:00-8:30 p.m.

There will be singing, games, crafts, and Bible studies. There is no cost for Vacation Bible School.

*Rick Wright plans to drive the church bus Monday through Thursday night during Vacation Bible School. Children must be at least 5 years old to ride on the bus unless a parent comes with him/her. He will pick up starting at Edward Gay at 5:30 p.m. Parents need to meet their children when he takes them home starting at Edward Gay at 8:45 p.m. (Rick will not be able to drive the bus for Vacation Bible School on Friday night because of English Conversation.)

Trip to New York Opera on Wednesday June 15 – Puccini’s “Madame Butterfly”

Church of the Nations will take a group to see the New York Metropolitan Opera perform “Madame Butterfly” by Giacomo Puccini on Wednesday June 15 starting at 6:30 p.m. No we will not fly to New York City – we can see high definition of the performance at the movie theater. “Madame Butterfly” is one of the most famous operas in the world. It tells a tragic story of an American officer and a Japanese woman who fall in love and get married at the beginning of the 20th century.

We will go to the Citiplace movie theater on Corporate Boulevard at 6:30 p.m. You can meet us there or ride on the church bus which will pick up from:

  • Highland Plantation/Duplantier at 5:30 p.m.
  • Edward Gay apartments at 5:40 p.m.
  • Nicholson bus stop at 5:45 p.m.
  • (Tigerland – if someone asks me to pick them up there – at 5:50 p.m.)

Please eat dinner before you come. We ask for $10 to help with the cost of the tickets. Please let Rick Wright know if you want to come so he can buy enough tickets and also look for you when he drives the bus.

We have our regular schedule of activities this Sunday.

  • Bible study at 10:20 a.m.
  • Worship at 11:15 a.m.
  • The bus will pick up people starting at Edward Gay apartments at 10:00 a.m. and finishing at Brightside bus stop at 10:10 a.m.

This Sunday is a special day in the Christian calendar. Pentecost Sunday which is the holiday when we celebrate the Holy Spirit. If you can we encourage everyone to wear something red.
