We invite you to the Christmas Eve worship service this Friday December 24 starting at 6:30 p.m. in the “big sanctuary” of University Baptist Church:
5775 Highland Road, 70808
This is one of the most beautiful worship services of the year. There will be Christmas music and songs and the service will end with the lighting of candles to represent Christ who is the light of the world.
You can drive yourself or ride on the church bus which will pick up from:
- Edward Gay apartments at 6:00 p.m.
- Tiger Towers at 6:03 p.m.
- Nicholson bus stop at 6:05 p.m.
- Tigerland at 6:10 p.m.
- Jennifer Jean at 6:15 p.m.
Please allow 5-10 minutes for the bus to arrive because of weather or traffic.
*Special note to families with children: If your children participate in our Sunday morning music program and are going to play music during this service – please bring your child(ren) to the church by 6:00 p.m. so they can practice and be ready. Thank you!
Church of the Nations will take a group downtown for the Downtown Christmas Pilgrimage this Sunday, December 19 starting at 6:00 p.m. at Mt Zion Baptist Church (near First United Methodist Church).
(I have had difficulty finding a good resource on the Internet for information about this. This is the best I have been able to find:
First Baptist Church calendar
First United Methodist Church calendar
First Presbyterian Church – Christmas Carol Pilgrimage)
The Downtown Christmas Pilgrimage is a beautiful and special way to prepare for and celebrate Christmas. Basically there is music and singing at five churches in downtown Baton Rouge. We begin at one church then walk to the next one and the next one and so on – five churches in all. (We will probably not go to all five churches – that can take a long time and people might become too tired.)
You can drive yourself and meet us at the first church at 5:30 p.m. (nice and early in order to get good seats) or ride on the church bus which will pick up from the usual places starting at Edward Gay at 5:00 p.m. Please allow up to 5-7 minutes for the bus to arrive because of weather or traffic.
Children are welcome (as long as they participate and can walk with everyone else). We strongly recommend you have something to eat/drink before you come! (We may not be finished until around 8:00 p.m.)
This is perhaps Pastor Rick’s favorite activity during the Advent/Christmas season. We hope you can join us.
Our annual Christmas Party for internationals will be next Friday December 17 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the home of:
Leo and Margaret Stanley
916 Bourbon Avenue, 70808
- This party is for people who participate in our Friday or Sunday activities – English Conversation and Bible study/worship – and their husbands/wives.
- This party also is for adults - do not bring children.
There will be a buffet dinner so people do not need to eat dinner before they come. We will also sing Christmas songs and carols.
You can drive yourself or ride on the church bus which will pick up from:
- Edward Gay at 6:10 p.m.
- Tiger Towers at 6:13 p.m.
- Nicholson bus stop at 6:15 p.m.
- Tigerland at 6:20 p.m.
- Jennifer Jean at 6:25 p.m.
