How would you like to see the New York Metropolitan Opera this weekend?
![]()
Well even if you are not sure – you might want to come along on Saturday November 07 to see the Metropolitan Opera perform “Turandot” by Giacomo Puccini starting at 1:00 p.m. at the movie theater. Why? Because it is one of the greatest operas ever written. Set in “legendary times” in China it tells the story of the cold cruel princess Turandot and the secret prince Calaf who wins her heart and her love. It could not be performed in China until 1999.
You can meet us at the Citiplace movie theater on Corporate Boulevard at 12:30 p.m. or you can ride on the church bus which will pick up from:
- Highland Plantation/Duplantier at 12:00 noon
- Edward Gay apartments at 12:10 p.m.
- Nicholson bus stop at 12:15 p.m.
- (Tigerland – if someone asks me to pick them up there – at 12:20 p.m.)
We encourage you to have lunch before you come!
We are asking people to contribute $10 for the tickets (which cost $22 each). Pastor Rick will be happy to pick people up that day so we can enjoy the opera as a group. (The performance is broadcast live in HD from New York City. The performances are exciting and outstanding. What people in New York City are watching is what we will be watching.) You also get to enjoy the experience of visiting a movie theater in the United States – something I know many internationals do not do while they are here.
Spaces and tickets are limited – so please email Rick Wright at rwright[at]ubc-br[dot]org or call him at 225-921-2355 to reserve a ticket and a space.
