Church of the Nations will take a group downtown for the Downtown Christmas Pilgrimage this Sunday, December 21 starting at 6:00 p.m. at Mt Zion Baptist Church (near First United Methodist Church).
(I have had difficulty finding a good resource on the Internet for information about this. This is the best I have been able to find:
First United Methodist Church calendar
best of all seems to be First Presbyterian Church – Christmas Carol Pilgrimage)
The Downtown Christmas Pilgrimage is a beautiful and special way to prepare for and celebrate Christmas. Basically there is music and singing at five churches in downtown Baton Rouge. We begin at one church then walk to the next one and the next one and so on – five churches in all. (We will probably not go to all five churches – that can take a long time and people might become too tired.)
You can drive yourself and meet us at the first church at 5:30 p.m. (nice and early in order to get good seats) or ride on the church bus which will pick up from Edward Gay at 5:00 p.m. then Tiger Towers at 5:03 p.m. finally Nicholson bus stop at 5:05 p.m. Please allow up to 5-7 minutes for the bus to arrive because of weather or traffic.
Children are welcome (as long as they participate and can walk with everyone else). We strongly recommend you have something to eat/drink before you come! (We may not be finished until around 8:00 p.m.)
This is perhaps Pastor Rick’s favorite activity during the Advent/Christmas season. We hope you can join us.
