Yes! Another camping trip! The weekend Saturday-Sunday, September 27-28 Church of the Nations will host a “camping trip” (or retreat) at Timber Creek Camp in Pulaski, Mississippi (just past Jackson). We will leave Saturday morning and return Sunday afternoon.

Learn more about Timber Creek Camp here.
The theme of the camp is “The Way of Relationship” and will focus on how we can know and have a personal relationship with God. Men/boys and women/girls will stay in nice cabins. There will be fun time, plenty of free time (to rest play or relax), and three short Bible studies. This is a great opportunity to have a short break and get away from Baton Rouge. There are plenty of fun things to do during free time (inside and outside). The food is very good.
The cost of the trip is $53 per person - but we are asking those who come to give only $20. (But we do not want anyone not to come because of cost - talk to us if the cost is a problem.) It is very important that people who want to go (a) reserve a spot and (b) provide the $20 per person.
Yes we know it is a little late to announce this but of course Hurricane Gustav made it difficult to advertise, print forms, and so on. We hope as many internationals as possible can come!
Here is the registration form in DOC and PDF formats. You can complete a form and send it to rwright AT ubc-br DOT org.

***PLEASE NOTE! The weather is becoming bad again because of Hurricane Ike. It might become necessary to cancel English Conversation but will not know for certain until later today. Please (1) check this website for updates and (2) if the church bus becomes late please call Pastor Rick at 921-2355. One person from each bus stop (Edward Gay, Tiger Towers, Nicholson) can call and find out.***
Church of the Nations will again offer English Conversation this Friday, September 12 starting at 7:30 p.m. at:
Church of the Nations (at University Baptist Church)
5775 Highland Road, 70808
We had planned to have English Conversation at the home of an American family as usual this week - but that person has trees down in her yard and the door of the house is blocked. So we will have English Conversation at the church - which now has power/air conditioning.
You can drive yourself or ride on the church bus which picks up from Edward Gay at 7:10 p.m. Tiger Towers at 7:12 p.m. and from Nicholson bus stop at 7:15 p.m. We can pick up from Tigerland - if you live in Tigerland and need a ride please call or email Pastor Rick Wright.
Directions:
- From LSU drive southeast on Highland
- After Lee Drive turn left onto Leeward Drive
- Take the second left
- Drive to the back of the parking lot where the chapel/classrooms are

The church building does not yet have electricity. So are we going to have Bible study and worship Sunday morning? So far the plan is yes we will have Bible study (only Rick’s class) and worship at the usual time(s). (Do understand we might not have light or electricity or air conditioning.) The worship will be “short and simple”. We will not have our first Sunday of the month fellowship meal (which normally we would have for this Sunday).
Parents! Please notice that all other Bible study/Sunday school classes are cancelled because of the damage to the education building. As far as I know only Rick Wright plans to have his Bible study group.
